Location: Saudi Arabia POSITION DESCRIPTION: Performs full range inspection engineering functions specific to an assigned unit or in a branch of inspection function. Responsibilities shall include: Supervises the activities of individual inspectors in the refinery and ensuring that all required duties by the area inspectors are performed. Provides technical support to Area inspectors in resolving problems concerning inspection methods and procedures of completing work within the scope and intent of applicable codes and standards. Plan, schedule and provide work direction at the Group or Unit level for regular and contractor inspectors. Keeps current of the latest developments in equipment inspection standards, codes, practices, procedures, methods, inspection equipment and ionizing radiation safety requirements, as applicable. Ensures that all unit equipment and piping records are updated and entered into a computer data bases. Periodically review the data base information and ensures that appropriate repairs/replacements to the equipment are recommended. Also assures that all required on stream inspections such as NDT are performed on time. Uses effectively the industry practices and codes, particularly with ASTM material standards, ASME Sections I, V, VIII, IX and API 510, 570, 653 specifications as well as AWS and NACE. Responsible for reviewing all technical problems relating to inspection engineering and to assist the refinery to solve such problems. Assists in Risk Based Inspection Assessments by providing required data or facilitating assessments. Ensure adequately trained and certified personnel are available to meet the work load.
SELECTION CRITERIA: The incumbent of this position must have a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 9 years of continuously progressive engineering experience with inspection department at a refinery or similar process industry OR minimum of 15 years experience on refining inspection. The incumbent: Shall have previous experience in refinery or similar plant inspection departments. Must have a strong knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, materials of equipment construction, welding and non destructive testing. Holds an API 510, API570, AWS, Coating, NDT and any other Certificates related to Inspection. Must have a working knowledge of worldwide standards and codes e.g. ASME, API and refining industrial engineering standards and procedures. Must be proficient in English communication and technical and inspection report writing. Should be proficient in use of PC and Windows programs.
COMMENTS: Riyadh Refinery was commissioned in 1981 and has a design capacity of 120 MBD. The Engineering Division provides the necessary engineering support to process facilities in the fields of Operation Engineering, Manufacturing Planning, Technical support, Project and Inspection. The Inspection unit role is condition monitoring of all static equipment and piping for the continued safe and reliable operation of the Refinery and provide necessary inspection and engineering support with timely advice for advance planning for the refurbishment/replacement of the equipment and piping per relevant Saudi Aramco & International procedures/standards with appropriate and up-to-date records.
