Here, we have two (2) immediate, direct hire openings: 1 for a senior level Reservoir Geologist (8 - 20 years) and 1 for a junior level Reservoir Geologist (3 - 8 years). Position Titles: Sr. Reservoir Geologist and Junior Reservoir Geologist
Department: Reservoir
Primary Responsibilities
Carry out integrated reservoir studies as a member of a project team on the company's Deep Water GOM producing properties in order to identify reserves and future development opportunities.
Interpret geological data, develop conceptual geological models and create detailed geocellular models as input to reservoir simulation
Jointly plan new wells/sidetracks and monitor active wells during drilling and completion phases.
Provide geological support as necessary to other members of the team
Review outside studies to ensure quality results.
Attend partner meetings and represent the company
Skill Profile
Knowledge and experience in deepwater Gulf of Mexico turbidities
Proven track record and experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams.
Experience in data integration and reservoir characterization
In-depth understanding of applying 3-D static reservoir modeling techniques to a range of reservoirs and reservoir problems and ability to recognize and assess the key issues pertaining to reservoir settings and architecture.
Knowledge of advanced seismic modeling techniques
Experience in Geostatistical modeling
Broad knowledge of all aspects of the EP business, including the delivery of high-integrity, integrated evaluations.
High technical skill level in using Petrel geocellular modeling and experience using
GEOQUEST software.
Windows and UNIX system
Qualifications
8+ plus years experience in Reservoir/Exploration department with exposure to operations environment
BS (MS preferred) in geology (or equivalent)
Communication Areas
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are needed to interact with all teams within the organization, JV partners and MMS (or equivalent).
Good oral and written communications skill are required for reporting and presentations
Detailed Responsibilities
Work on both new and producing fields while being responsible for work content and quality.
Interpret reservoir geology and develop 3D reservoir geological models constrained by seismic interpretation and dynamic production data.
Gather and review the quality of existing data, identify information gaps, carry out OHIP calculations and establish which parameters critically control volumetric ranges.
Assess the geological project risks and uncertainties and quantify a range of predicted volumes
Assure that the geological model is reliable and suitable for project risk assessments and that the critical geological parameters for successful development are identified.
Document all work products, ensure all interpreted data are properly captured, all relevant databases are updated with the results of studies, and all models are properly archived for future re-use.
Monitor outside geological studies and provide technical quality control.
Participate in the preparation of appraisal/development well proposals. This includes collaboration with drilling and exploration departments to define: optimal well trajectory, data acquisition needs, and well planning.
Follow the drilling and completion phases of new wells.
Assess the pre-drill estimates against actual results and provide “quick look” post drilling volumes estimate
Provide model updates when necessary
Train and mentor junior staff in the correct application of all production/development geology related matters and the proper integration of other discipline data into a reservoir geological model.
Participate in data room reviews in support of new business opportunity evaluations
Participate with the team in moving projects through the value assurance process of project evaluation, definition and selection.
