Tanganyika Oil Company Ltd.1 is an international oil and gas exploration and production company with interests in exploration and development properties in Syria. Tanganyika operates through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SIPC (Syria) Limited. Tanganyika has made significant achievements with the appraisal of value enhancing opportunities in Syria which has included testing enhanced oil recovery ("EOR") techniques and exploration drilling. The stated objectives of the Company include the consistent growth of reserves and production. On December 19th, 2008, Tanganyika became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sinopec International
Petroleum Exploration and Production Corporation (“SIPC”). SIPC is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Petrochemical Corporation ("Sinopec Group") and undertakes overseas investments and operations in the upstream oil and gas sector. Sinopec Group is China's largest producer and supplier of oil products and major petrochemical products. Prior to being acquired by Sinopec, Tanganyika was publicly listed with shares trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange and Depository Receipts trading on the Nordic exchange.
Asset Development, Team Lead – Resident – Damascus, Syria
Reporting to the Operations Director, this individual will deliver optimized subsurface studies to support field development including well proposals, reservoir management, reserve estimates and production forecasts;
plan timely and cost effective data acquisition; ensure QA through clear technical authorities, drive cross functional integration to support asset lifecycle value realization.
Responsibilities:
�� Oversee development and execution of Tishrine and Oudeh subsurface data acquisition strategy
�� Drive integration of various data sources and analyses to develop the static and dynamic models required for reservoir management, production well design and field development planning
�� Ensure implementation of management systems and processes for document control of subsurface data and studies
�� Ensure quality of all technical work and recommendations
�� Ensure choice of well locations is supported by appropriate field studies and reservoir modeling / surveillance data
�� Oversee preparation of well proposals and completion requirements (input to preparation of drilling and completion by the Drilling team)
�� Oversee development of reservoir depletion and reservoir management strategy, including budget and operations plan; with appropriate knowledge sharing with other technical groups, in particular Field
Operations, Projects and Facilities and Construction
�� Oversee development and monitoring / updating of well and reservoir surveillance & management plans
�� Ensure well test data is effectively analyzed and shared with reservoir modeling, reservoir management, drilling and operations team
�� Develop and justify a strategy, plans and budget to support effective reservoir management and identification of reserve growth potential
�� Ensure behaviors, performance, and resourcing of group support for Tishrine and Oudeh production targets, company policies and standards
�� Participate in business planning, budgeting, peer reviews, and other initiatives as required
�� Encourage commitment to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing from subordinates
�� Mentor and appraise staff
�� Any other activities as requested to support OPC success
Qualifications:
�� International experience is essential.
�� B. Sc. degree in Petroleum Engineering or Geosciences
�� 15+ years experience in oil and gas exploration and development
�� Proven capability in the effective leadership of subsurface teams
�� Technical authority and experience in understanding or developing plays/basins in Syria is desirable
�� Technical authority and knowledge to work with multi-disciplinary teams spanning all aspects of the sub surface domain
�� Understanding of Petroleum Economics
�� Superior organizational and interpersonal skills will be required to ensure effective integration of subsurface work with that of the other Functions (Facilities, Drilling, Production and Projects) to maximize generation of full field life cycle asset value
�� Proficiency in verbal and written English.
�� Effective communication skills in oral and written English mandatory; ability to converse in Arabic is an asset.
