Reservoir Engineer – Resident Damascus, Syria
Tanganyika Oil Company Ltd.1 is an international oil and gas exploration and production company with interests in exploration and development properties in Syria. Tanganyika operates through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SIPC (Syria) Limited. Tanganyika has made significant achievements with the appraisal of value enhancing opportunities in Syria which has included testing enhanced oil recovery ("EOR") techniques and exploration drilling. The stated objectives of the Company include the consistent growth of reserves and production. On December 19th, 2008, Tanganyika became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sinopec International
Petroleum Exploration and Production Corporation (“SIPC”). SIPC is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Petrochemical Corporation ("Sinopec Group") and undertakes overseas investments and operations in the upstream oil and gas sector. Sinopec Group is China's largest producer and supplier of oil products and major petrochemical products. Prior to being acquired by Sinopec, Tanganyika was publicly listed with shares trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange and Depository Receipts trading on the Nordic exchange.
Reservoir Engineer – Resident – Damascus, Syria
Reporting to the Asset Development, Team Lead, the focus of this position is to assist in maximizing reservoir yields and performance. This individual will gather data from various sources to produce development plans using computer models to simulate production conditions to identify risks and forecast the likely outcome of events and possible interventions.
Responsibilities:
�� Evaluate the size and the production potential of specific reservoirs to assist in determining value and potential investment required
�� Lead the efforts in field development and reservoir management
�� Evaluate existing and alternative production methods
�� Analyze performance of existing wells and reservoirs; provide guidance for optimized production and reserves including recompletions, stimulation and required workovers
�� Provide key role in reserves evaluations and future production forecasts
�� Recommend, plan and analyze well testing and treatment programs, and data gathering
�� Prepare PVT and SCAL work programs and evaluate results
�� Analyze thermal pilot projects and recommend appropriate course of action
�� Assist in simulation model building as required
�� Provide economic data to evaluate various aspects of commercial potential
�� Work closely with operational staff and other professionals such as geologists, geophysicists and engineers
�� Prepare presentations and reports for management and other parties
�� Any other activities as requested to support OPC success
Qualifications:
�� International experience is essential
�� B. Sc. degree in Petroleum or Chemical Engineering
�� 10+ years of reservoir engineering experience with emphasis on heavy oil
�� Experience in working with fractured carbonate reservoirs is a must
�� Proven technical and analytical skills with strong computer modeling skills
�� Experience using various reservoir software applications; familiarity with SIS software is preferred
�� The ability to work effectively in a team environment constantly sharing information
�� A self-motivated team player who assists in creating an enthusiastic and positive multi-disciplinary team environment
�� Effective communication skills in oral and written English mandatory; ability to converse in Arabic is an asset
