We are expanding every facet of our Iron Ore business as we develop new ways to deliver competitive advantages to our customers. Our most recent growth project, Rapid Growth Project 5, will take installed capacity at our Western Australian Iron Ore operations to 205mpta by the second half of calendar year 2011.

Position Synopsis

We currently have a newly created 12 month fixed term role, for an experienced Emergency Response and Safety Officer. Reporting to the Principal Environmental and Approvals Coordinator, you role will be to provide rescue, medical and safety services to environmental surveys being conducted at our sites.

With a strong commitment to health, safety, environment and sustainable development, your key areas of accountability include:

* Provision of rescue and first aid preparedness;
* Provision of fire, rescue and first aid support during emergencies;
* Provision of health and safety support to exploration areas;
* Participate in audits and risk assessments;
* Conduct daily safety inspections of exploration work areas;
* Conduct Alcohol and other drug testing for REG work sites; and
* Developing and revising Safety and Emergency Management Procedures and plans.

Skills and Experience

Essential qualifications for this role include Industrial Paramedic (or equivalent) and training in Vehicle Rescue, Respond to Wildfire, Hazchem, Working at Heights and hold a current HR drivers licence. Qualifications in Workplace Training and Assessing are also desirable. You will also have no less that five years experience in fire and rescue or emergency medical arena; and exposure to drug and alcohol testing, traffic management and speed monitoring, health, safety and environment protocols. This position will play a major safety support role for our remote areas and will be responsible for ensuring our emergency management procedures are reviewed and current. You will also have excellent oral and written communication skills and be competent in operating a computer. Previous experience in a Health and Safety role or working on a remote site will also hold you in high regard.

Location

This position is being offered as 9 days on 5 days off roster cycle on a Fly in Fly out basis from Perth and rotating between our Pilbara sites.
