Basic Purpose:
Central Engineering Production Engineers will take a lead in their areas of subject matter expertise to assist & assure Technical & Operating Excellence in all activities undertaken by the Production Engineers assigned to Exploration, Development and Production Divisions.

Key Accountabilities
Providing technical assistance & advice to team based Production Engineers and Team Leaders.
Providing Technical Assurance of work undertaken and assurance of compliance to functional and company standards.
Developing standards, guidelines and best practices in their areas of expertise to support Concept evaluations, Completion and Sand Face Design, Production Monitoring and Optimization and Well Reliability & Integrity activities as appropriate.
Support the Development and maintenance of a Training & Competency Verification scheme for Production Engineering
Develop and maintain networks and working relationships with key peers and colleagues in other teams. Capturing and disseminating knowledge to the Production Engineering community
Responsibilities
Working in the Subsurface Engineering Functional home room as part of the Production Engineering team tasked to deliver technical & operating functional excellence to Petroleum Operations. The role of the Central Engineering Production Engineers is to work with the Chief Production Engineer and interface closely with peers within teams to:
Identify and deliver opportunities to enhance Technical & Operating excellence within the Production Engineering function and associated activities.
Provide direct support in specialist studies and evaluation of business opportunities.
Initiate change and champion best practice application in areas of expertise e.g. completion technology, sand control, production surveillance & optimisation & well integrity management practices.
Lead and/or coordinate the development and implementation of standards, guidelines and work practices associated with the Production Engineering activities to support & drive performance improvements.
Interface with relevant personnel in Development and Production Units and Drilling & Completions and Development Engineering function to ensure Production Engineering activities are executed and monitored in accordance to the standards prescribed through review and audit.
Capture and disseminate progress and lessons learned via appropriate networks (eg PrEMS Portal, CoPs). Update and maintain PrEMS as required with the support of IT specialists as required.
Provide mentoring & technical training. Support establishment of the functional competency based development programme.
Support the Production Engineering technology programme activities as required and assist in the dissemination & deployment of selected technologies
Maintaining contact with recognized Industry bodies, associations and academia to ensure relevant Industry best practices and technologies are known to BHPB and introduced where value adding.
Establish and maintain effective communication with all relevant stakeholders. Develop internal and external networks and relationships to support information sharing and general capability development.
Attend forums such as SPE, ATW, ATCE, specialist conferences and workshops. To collate and disseminate feedback from these and courses attended by the Subsurface Engineering community

Qualifications
University degree in an engineering or science subject with 8 - 20 years experience in the upstream petroleum industry.
Broad background in Production Engineering which should encompass both onshore and offshore operations and include exposure to well design, completions and production operations.
Experience & Technical Competencies
Detailed knowledge of production engineering core skills and project lifecycle deliverables encompassing data acquisition, conceptual well design, decision framing and VOI techniques, production operations, well surveillance, production optimization and lifecycle reliability assessment.
Previous experience in development and production projects while working for an Operator or related Service Company is desirable.
Capable of taking a systems approach to the development and implementation of standards, guidelines and associated work practices.
Solid understanding of the technical and commercial risks associated with the development and production of hydrocarbon resources.
Track record of working across discipline and functional interfaces and in the management of consultants is essential.
Excellent interpersonal, team working and good communication and influencing skills with the ability to liaise at all levels, particularly cross functionally.
Good written and verbal reporting skills.
