Geologist - Field/Soil/Groundwater 20-25 $/hr

2 month plus contract opening located in the Chicago, IL area for a Field Geologist that has experience with typical field environmental geologists assignments and responsibilities. Local candidates as their is no travel or per diem.

Responsibilities:

-> Experience in soil and groundwater sampling, well installation and development, petroleum retail site investigation and drilling
-> Conducts and/or supervises groundwater well installation and well development activities
-> Collects soil and groundwater samples and maintains documentation in record logs
-> Operates trucks, pumps, vacuum equipment, oil booms, generators, and other machinery/equipment
-> Tests, calibrates, repairs, and modifies control and instrumentation systems at on-site locations under general supervision
-> Prepares required field and office reports of various activities and findings
-> Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

Requirements:

-> BS in geology or related field
-> US Resident or Permanent Resident
-> Must be 40 hour OSHA trained, and must be able to work in the field and write field notes
-> Completion of a 40-hour OSHA training course (with an annual 8-hour update) is required
-> Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate well with supervisors in the office

• How many years experience do you have working as a Geologist? Do you have a BS in Geology or a related field? Are you 40 hour OSHA trained and able to work in the field and write field notes?

• What specific experience will show your ability to conduct and or supervise groundwater sampling, well installation and development, and petroleum retail site investigation and drilling?

• Please share any experience to show you are able to follow written and verbal instruction and communicate well at all levels.

• Detail any experience you have operating trucks, pumps, vacuum equipment, etc and the ability to test, calibrate, repair and modify control and instrumentation systems on site under supervision.

• Where do you currently live? What is your current work status? What is your current or most recent rate of pay and what is your desired hourly rate of pay for this position?
