Unix/Linux System Administrator-Oil and Gas Co. Exp Required
$100K + Bonus
Ø B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline preferred. A good Diploma in IT acceptable
Ø Minimum 4 years experience in IT with at least 1 year in a customer focused function
Ø Minimum 2 years experience in an upstream petroleum operations environment
Ø Excellent knowledge of the Solaris/Linux OS
Ø Knowledge and experience with NAS and SAN file systems
Ø Knowledge and experience of computer and network security
Ø Proficient with borne, korn, c, and perl scripting
Ø Proficient programming in c or c++
Ø Knowledge in supporting UNIX/LINUX Network environments
Ø Proficient creating and managing automount configurations
Ø Proficient creating NIS maps and configuring Makefile
Ø Geoframe and/or Openworks experience desired
Working for this well-established oil and gas operating company as the Unix/Linux System Administrator, you will take primary responsibility for ensuring servers and workstations in Geological and Geophysical infrastructure are available for end users. **Strong oil and gas industry experience in G&G area is required. Additionally, you will have a a major role in assisting management in development and implementation of IT solutions to meet business and end-use requirements including: planning tests and implementing OS upgrades, patches, installations and troubleshooting (Sun Solaris, SGI, Linus, Redhat, NetApps, EMC); data storage management; perform, test, and manage new software; trouble shooting; many special projects.
