 BHP Billiton Petroleum is a significant oil and gas explorer, and producer, with major producing assets in Australia, the United Kingdom, the Gulf of Mexico (US), Algeria, Pakistan and Trinidad and Tobago.

The Macedon Gas Plant, located some 12km from the township of Onslow, will commence production in 2013. The Plant will perform gas dehydration; hydrocarbon dewpoint control; and gas compression, sufficient for delivery of domestic gas into the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline.

We have a fantastic opportunity for suitably motivated and experienced individual to join the Operations Team as an Operations Superintendent. Initially, you will alternate between the Perth office, construction yards and the Macedon Gas Plant site transitioning on a fixed rotation to the Gas Plant from early 2013.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Managing plant operations to the highest standards of safety and environmental performance and in accordance with BHPB Petroleum HSEC Systems and Procedures, Regulatory commitments including emergency response capability.
• Delivering HSE, Production and Operating cost performance to meet or exceed company target levels.
• Creating and maintaining a work environment consistent with the BHPB Charter values.
• Assuring organizational competency and capacity to meet HSE and Business objectives and targets.
• Leading the Operations team through the establishment of clear goals and targets in a collaborative work environment.
• Engaging and effectively communicating with all external stakeholders including Regulatory agencies and Gas Customers.

EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

To be considered, you will have a minimum 10 years experience in oil and gas operations, a component of which is at a supervisory level. You will have demonstrated experience and competency in the following:

• Achieving high HSE performance inclusive of personal and process safety.
• Assuring Emergency Response capability and capacity.
• Achieving or exceeding production and operating cost performance targets.
• Effective performance and development management of a multi discipline team.
• Developing and maintaining effective relationships with external stakeholders, including Regulatory agencies

QUALIFICATIONS

Formal qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline, ideally to degree level. Lesser qualifications will be considered in the context of demonstrated competency.
