ABOUT THE WELDING ENGINEER - GRADUATE POSITION
The Welding/Materials/Coating Engineer will review bids and subcontracted welding procedures and provide technical support for qualification and production phases of a project including offshore pipeline welding and structural fabrication welding.  
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under supervision, candidate shall be able to evaluate, organize and prioritize work which shall be subject to internal checking and approval; Responsible for production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to drafting, weld drawing reviews, weld calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3^rd party submissions; Understands clients needs; identifies and addresses design parameters and problems; develops and implements solutions; Ensures project fit-for-purpose, HSEQ compliance and adherence to project budget and schedule; Ensures all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed; Advance the company's knowledge and technology in conjunction with the R&D department.  Candidate will also be responsible for advising on production estimates and costs.
 
All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.
 
EUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Technology or Metallurgy.  NACE Certification may be part of development plan.  Certified Weld Inspector to be in development plan.
 
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Applicants should be familiar with codes API 1104, DNV OS-F101, AWS D1.1 and NACE / ISO 15156.  Knowledge of European Codes would be an advantage.  Knowledge in NDT (non destructive testing) is required.  Process knowledge should include SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW, and automated welding processes.  Knowledge in coating and insulation materials such as FBE, PE, PP, Novalastic, etc to be acquired.  Knowledge in field joint coating (FJC) practices to be acquired.  Candidate should have a working knowledge of materials and fracture mechanics.  This includes carbon steel linepipe materials and structural beams, plating, and forgings.  Knowledge in ECA (engineering criticality assessments) is preferred.  Knowledge with CRA (Corrosion Resistant Alloy) and Duplex Stainless Steel materials will be acquired.  Onsite work consists of fabrication yards that deal with steel structures and/or Pipelines.  Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with internal and external audiences.  Must be able to be a part of a team.  Self motivated and take initiative.
 
LOCATION
Houston, Texas with regular trips to worksites onshore and offshore as appropriate
