Job description:

Petroleum Industry Liaison St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada
Location: St. John's
The Fish, Food and Allied Workers (FFAW/CAW) Union invites applications for the position of Petroleum Industry Liaison
The successful candidate will work on behalf of the fishing industry in matters related to offshore oil and gas exploration, development, production and related activities in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The incumbent shall possess effective communication skills, a strong knowledge base of the fish harvesting sector, the offshore petroleum regulatory process and the offshore petroleum industry in Newfoundland and Labrador. Experience interacting with government and/or industry in the area of policy formulation and implementation would be beneficial.
A demonstrated ability to assimilate complex, sometimes technical, information and be able to discuss it in a meaningful way with people of varying levels of knowledge is an important requirement of the position. This involves developing and maintaining effective lines of communication with fish harvesters, the offshore petroleum industry and regulatory authorities (CAPP, DFO, C-NLOPB and One Ocean) regarding various offshore activities, reviewing related documentation and activities related to oil and gas activity in Newfoundland and Labrador, providing written and/or verbal commentary to the petroleum industry and/or regulators regarding the views and concerns of the fishing industry and facilitating education and awareness, cooperation and information exchange between the fishing and petroleum sectors.
This position is for one year but may be extended beyond this term. The position is located at the FFAW Office in St. John’s, NL.
