Description:
Reporting to the Drilling and Completions buyer Supervisor, the Vendor advisor is accountable for the general management of the preferred vendor relationships for the Drilling, Completions, and Construction departments.
Tiered Vendor Management
Monitor spending and impact data to ensure vendors are tiered correctly and managed according to their overall impact on well costs.
Assume the project leader role on the vendor management team (with technical and vendor representatives).
Summarize and report vendor performance highlights to client groups.
Ensure all vendors fully understand and abide by Talisman values.
Cost Control
Working with the Supply Management Business Analyst, monitor market conditions and ensure competitive advantage is maintained.
Monitor leakage, and utilization reports to ensure vendor agreements are maintained and that projected revenue numbers are met.
Negotiate high impact agreement renewals leveraging term and revenue commitments to achieve preferred rates.
Issue Requests for proposal as necessary to procure services/supplies.
Vendor Performance Management
Attend rig call meetings to track performance and monitor client satisfaction.
Working with the technical representative, compare vendor performance to that of our peers/partners.
Encourage New Initiatives
Maintain strong communications with clients to ensure needs are being met in a timely manner.
Attend client meetings where appropriate to ensure communications are open and effective.
Prepare and present recommendations/results in written and/or verbal formats as required.
Vendor Management
Actively manage vendors in order to maximize value to Talisman.
Meet regularly with primary vendors to ensure Talisman's needs are being met, and strategic value of vendor relationships are being realized.
Business Improvement
Analyze processes to develop, act on and implement improvement initiatives.
Contribute to managing vendor selection, vendor performance and continuous improvement of both the contractual relationship and departmental processes
Qualifications:
A technical diploma in Engineering Technology from a recognized technical institute (SAIT, NAIT, etc.) or a Technical or Business diploma in Purchasing/Logistics/Supply Chain Management.
A working knowledge of Oil & Gas exploration, drilling and operations.
Possess or working towards a Certified Professional Purchaser "CPP" designation or Certified Engineering Technologist "CET" designation would be an asset.
Experience with Service Companies, or vendor management as well as Oil and Gas field experience would be an asset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Technical writing skills.
Customer service and Interpersonal skills.
Meeting facilitation.
Multi-Media Presentation skills.
Advanced negotiation skills.
Advanced MS Word and Excel knowledge.
