Controller needed for a full-time position in Houston, Texas with a based private E&P Company. The successful candidate will have a B.S. Degree in Finance or Accounting, MAC, MBA or CPA preferred and 10+ years experience within oil and gas industry. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. The Controller will have the following responsibilities manage internal and external reporting requirements according to GAAP and relevant tax and other regulatory standards. Direct all accounting, reporting, compliance and financial systems functions. Will be the liaison with the external auditors and will assist the CFO with reports and presentations to the CEO, Board of Directors, lenders, and investors. Responsible for the accounting operations of the company (AP, payroll, AR, etc.). Perform monthly, quarterly and annual closings, and prepare all financial statements. Guide financial decisions by establishing, and monitoring compliance with, corporate policies and procedures. Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing asset management and internal control policies and procedures. Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting timely account analysis and reconciliations, and conducting periodic audits of contract manufacturers and other third party contractors. Prepare analyses and provide information to assist in the examination of financial statements by external auditors. Create a center of excellence and resource for the company by developing and maintaining communication and education around developing issues in accounting, reporting and compliance areas.
