There is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished Safety Specialist within our corporate team. In this role, you will be stewarding safe systems of work, both personal and process, conducting inspections, and promoting training and competency development within our workforce.
This position reports to the Senior Safety Specialist and is located in Calgary with travel to North America (NA) field locations. This opportunity will appeal to a dynamic Safety professional who enjoys working in a fast paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in Safety program development and enhancements for North America Operations (NAO).
Partner with clients to secure early engagement and identify goals and objectives.
Develop personal and process safety procedures and practices.
Promote, educate and implement Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) principles.
Lead incident investigations and act as a resource in emergency response situations.
Conduct workplace inspections.
Facilitate program safety audits, author reports and follow-up on corrective actions.
Steward Safety metrics, provide recommendations and prepare messages to influence change.
Assist with contractor management through providing input to contractor agreements, audits, and sponsoring contractor safety improvements.
Coach and mentor junior team members.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with regulatory and industry bodies.
Qualifications:
Professional memberships in CRSP and/or CSP are definite assets.
10+ years of dedicated Safety experience.
Experience within the oil and gas industry with exposure to Drilling, Completions and/ or Facilities is an asset.
Ability to travel to NA field locations.
Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to develop strategic recommendations that can be translated into action plans.
Working experience with root cause analysis i.e. Tap Root, Apollo, SCAT.
Superior attention to detail.
Working knowledge of regulations and the ability to apply them.
Demonstrated ability to establish credibility and influence internal and external stakeholders.
Strong communication skills - written, verbal and presentation.
Capable of working effectively within teams and independently.
Skilled at remaining calm under pressure.
Proficient in MS Office Suite.
Possess valid driver's license.
Ability to qualify for a US passport if required for business need.
