Safety Advisor needed for a fulltime position with major oil and gas company located in Bakersfield, California. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in a safety/environmental field or related science degree with a minimum three years experience or equivalent experience (seven or more years of related HES experience) in the oil and gas industry, and possess a working knowledge of government regulations (OSHA or equivalent) and common oil and gas safety policies, procedures, and guidelines. Requires proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite; SQL database experience and knowledge a plus; strong organizational and presentation skills; and excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Position responsibilities include safety oversight for operations and contractors, implementation of emergency response and fire protection programs, advising and assisting line all management levels to ensure operations, practices and conditions are compliant; and conducting audits to assess the status of worker field safety and industrial health programs. The role also requires the implementation of the safe work systems including confined space, LOTO and Hot work, supporting contractor safety program via pre-bid, pre-performance/startup meetings, providing safety orientation and other training to contractors, and supporting the behavior-based safety program by perform task observations. Duties also include attending HES and technical training using current HES databases to input and track HES action items until completed, supporting operations by the identification of hazards via use of risk analysis techniques and tools, participate in Process Hazard Assessments (PHA) and Process Hazard Reviews (PHR), and conduct site and facility inspections and audits.
