As the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Solar has a global network of offices and facilities to support customers with a variety of service products and programs as well as an experienced technical support team. We currently have an opening for a Project Coordinator at our TurboFab facility. TurboFab, an affiliate of Solar Turbines Inc., is a fully-integrated fabrication and machining facility located just east of Houston in Channelview, Texas that takes great advantage of its 1,200 feet of waterfront access and 50-acre state-of-the-art facility to solve customer needs. Fabrication Solutions is the Oil & Gas business growth initiative that is actively pursuing new opportunities in fabrication, packaging, and engineering outside of Solar's traditional turbomachinery market. By leveraging Solar's existing facilities and personnel through Fabrication Solutions, the Critical Success Factor of achieving profitable growth is being addressed with a cost-effective, strategic focus.
Job Description:
The primary function of this position is to prepare firm and budget estimates of projects such as pipe valve skids, process skids and single lift modules. Has direct responsibility for monitoring project cost to budget and advises management of schedule impacts. Reviews material take-off and cut sheets, prepared by the drafting department and prepares material requisition. Coordinates with assigned Project Foremen to assure effective utilization of workforce relative to the project. Interfaces with certain other company departments, subcontractors, and Construction Services Engineering and Customer Services at Solar Turbines to achieve product quality and timely delivery. This position is also responsible for tracking and estimating the cost of change orders.
Qualifications:
• Background would include formal or on-the-job training or experience in cost control and estimating.
• Specific knowledge of drawing interpretation, specifications and materials is necessary.
• Requires working knowledge of fabrication and any drafting experience, engineering and design knowledge is a plus.
