Reporting to the Manager, Gas Supply and Transportation, the successful candidate will have the primary responsibility for Alberta gas control. As a member of the Supply and Transportation team you will be responsible for the daily optimization of Talisman's gas flow from gas plants to markets.
Duties include:
Scheduling pipeline nominations in a manner which optimizes production and sales.
Coordinating outages with field, pipelines, and marketing representatives.
Forecasting short term supply availability.
Monitoring, analyzing, and adjusting daily gas movements to balance pipeline requirements with gas marketing opportunities and TLM gas production.
Building relationships with other shippers, production partners, pipeline staff, and field personnel, educating field personnel on pipeline and allocation issues.
Maintaining complex gas control spreadsheet software to accurately reflect and manage the business.
Work with accounting staff to ensure accurate month-end allocations and invoicing.
Backup B.C. gas control on the Spectra system.
Weekend gas control on call rotation, about once a month.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills and an affinity for computer technology, particularly spreadsheets. The position requires careful attention to detail, while visualizing an overall model and managing the complete process. An understanding of upstream gas production operations and accounting would be a definite asset. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of TransCanada, Alliance, and Spectra pipeline gas scheduling and operations. Formal education in accounting, engineering technology of commerce is ideal.
Gas scheduling requires an early morning start due to business requirements, before 6:30 a.m.
