Geophysical Advisor (New Ventures)
Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Company Global New Ventures is actively seeking to expand our portfolio of material prospects in new basins or plays through license round acquisition, JV opportunities and focused farm-in opportunities. The candidate for this position will be responsible, in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, for screening, prioritizing and evaluating those opportunities. Final deliverables will be an economic evaluation as basis for bid with high quality supporting technical/business evaluations.
ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead / prospect mapping and risk / resource analysis in conjunction with geologist
• Farm-ins and exploration license acquisition recommendations
• Opportunity screening and prioritization
• Regional mapping, play analysis
• Integrating geological, geochemical, petrophysical and geophysical input from numerous sources and from other company experts to provide context for opportunities
• Must be able to travel to international locations to view and/or evaluate data
• Team focus is an absolute must
Qualifications
COMPETENCIES:
• Technical focus in or practical knowledge of seismic attribute analysis
• Proven ability to rapidly evaluate large volumes of data and focus on key priorities
• Practical knowledge of the integration and evaluation of the overall petroleum system at prospect and basin scale
• Knowledge of the impact of different seismic processing methods in different geological environments and the effect of imaging on seismic interpretation
• Ability to generate Seismic to Well Ties / Rock Physics
• Depth Conversion
• Ability to work effectively in team environment and integrate data from multiple sources
• Technical focus in or practical knowledge of structural geology and tectonic settings
• Technical focus in or practical knowledge of seismic facies / seismic stratigraphic analysis
• Practical knowledge of controls on reservoir quality and petrophysics - ability to work in conjunction with project petrophysicist
• Practical knowledge of resource and risk estimation
• Solid exploration experience in at least two of the following areas: Africa, Australia, South America, Middle East, Europe
EXPERIENCE:
15+ years of related Geophysical experience in the Oil and Gas Exploration and Production industry
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Geophysics required
• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geology or Geophysics preferred
