PURPOSE
Provide and coordinate advice, support and information regarding Environmental matters to Eagle Ford Production Unit operations, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and company-wide HSE Policies and Standards. Coordinate the development of Environmental Impact Assessments and implement controls, participate in or lead review workshops, and provide guidance on environmental issues that may impact sustainable operations. Specialists with air permitting field compliance, e.g., emissions testing and record keeping. Specialist input to accident / incident investigations and audits.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assist Eagle Ford PU in achieving Petroleum and corporate targets.
- Develop and implement environmental strategies to support corporate sustainable development objectives.
- Provide expertise to the Eagle Ford PU on environmental matters including discharges, wastes, emissions, energy and resource use, incident reporting, site rehabilitation and environmental studies.
- Deliver environmental advice, assistance and support to HSE line management.
- Perform audits, assessments and gap analyses against relevant Corporate and Petroleum Policies, Standards and Procedures to identify areas for improvement in environmental performance.
- Maintain a system for collecting, analysing and reporting environmental metrics, including incidents, discharges, resource use, wastes, emissions, compliance, training, etc.
- Develop training to ensure that the entire workforce recognizes their own responsibility for environmental performance.
- Assess and reduce the Eagle Ford PU environmental risks through the use of risk workshops, preparation of risk registers and implementation of action plans.
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
- Represent the Eagle Ford PU in internal and industry associations.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships for environmental stewardship with academic and non-government organizations.
- Coordinate with External Affairs regarding outreach and company participation in community projects with an environmental component.
- Develop programs to minimize potential environmental incidents (e.g., spills), personnel exposure and long term liabilities, especially concerning wastes and site closures.
- Manage environmental research projects.
- Provide expertise, peer assist and internal audit for environmental management systems and ISO 14001 certification.

The EFPU HSE Environmental Specialist [1] will be an office based position and will be a full time position reporting to the EFPU HSE Supervisor Operations. The role will provide support for the sites formally through the HSE team.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Engineering or Science Degree
- 5+ years of HSE and/or Operations experience
- Audit experience or certification
- Coursework in risk management and HSE management.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Speciality in Air permitting and GHG compliance strategies
- Technical Proficiency – Environmental Management Systems
