POSITION SYNOPSIS
To ensure daily, month end and year end financial accounting activities are performed in a timely and efficient manner, in accordance with BHP Billiton policies and Accounting Standards and provide assistance and support to our customers, team members, the team leader, and other staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Collation, input, review and variance analysis of financial information and operational data, in compliance with accounting standards and taxation requirements
* Financial reporting in accordance with accounting standards and taxation requirements
* Support the continuous update and maintenance of financial support systems and interfaces (including BCS and SAP), as well as, procedure documentation
* Other accounting & administrative tasks, including: monthly account reconciliations and journals, fixed assets and accounts payable processing
* Initiate and participate in process improvement activities
* Assist with query resolution as appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS
* Tertiary qualifications in accounting or finance
* 3 - 5 years of progressive, relevant experience
* International GAAP experience preferred
* Experience in foreign currency translation preferable but not essential
* Microsoft office products with advance Excel
* Experience in SAP preferred
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
* Customer focused with patience to learn reporting applications
