Maintenance Supervisor - Shenzi

Purpose

The Shenzi Maintenance Supervisor is a member of a multidiscipline operations team, reporting to the Shenzi Offshore Installation Manager. The main purpose of the position is to provide operational and maintenance support to the Shenzi project team, support the implementation and management of the Shenzi Maintenance and Integrity Management Strategy, assist in the implementation of the operational readiness plan, and lead the offshore maintenance team during the operational phase. This position requires the integration of a range of operations, HSEC, regulatory, and maintenance knowledge and experience to effectively lead the offshore maintenance team.
HSEC Accountabilities

1. Ensure full compliance with BHPB Corporate HSEC Management Standards, Petroleum HSEC policies and practices, and applicable regulations.

2. Perform Shenzi maintenance activities to the highest standards in accordance with the priority order of HSEC, then production, cost, and growth.

3. Ensure the safety of personnel and integrity of facilities at all times. This includes Simultaneous Operations, Emergency Response, and training exercises.

4. Promote a risk-based approach to maintenance and operations, teaming with technical specialists and HSEC staff to manage risk.

5. Ensure all maintenance and integrity management activities are in compliance with legislation, the facility Safety Case, ISO 14001, and the company HSEC management systems.
Project Phase Accountabilities

1. Participate as a member of the Operations Team on the Shenzi Project through to the delivery of oil and gas production from the Shenzi facility.

2. Assist in the preparation and execution of the Shenzi Maintenance and Integrity Management Strategy.

3. Assist in the preparation and execution of the GSAP Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

4. Support the operational planning and execution of onshore pre-commissioning as well as offshore hook-up and commissioning activities to ensure safe and timely start up of production operations.

5. Provide leadership and foster effective teamwork in order to motivate staff and establish a work environment that maximizes opportunities for staff to perform well, achieve job satisfaction and contribute effectively to BHPB.

6. Support development of maintenance procedures.

7. Assure maintenance team is fully competent and prepared for start-up of operations.

8. Serve as operational focal point for commissioning of mechanical systems.
Operations Phase Accountabilities

1. Ensure maintenance activities on the facilities deliver safe, mechanically sound, and optimal equipment condition and performance.

2. Ensure all operational and facility-related risks are identified and mitigated in a timely and efficient manner.

3. Assist management in development of the maintenance component of the annual budget and manage controllable expenditures at the facility.

4. Ensure all maintenance procedures and technical documentation are up to date and implemented.

5. Work with the production team to coordinate daily activities so that maintenance impacts on production are minimal and that proper teamwork is achieved.

6. Champion the CMMS and analyze reports to maximize equipment reliability.

7. Adjust maintenance strategies and materials for optimized performance and financial efficiency.

8. Lead the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities.
Experience and Qualifications

1. High School Diploma required. College or Technical School Degree preferred.

2. Five or more years experience in maintenance operations on offshore oil and gas production facilities.

3. Experience in all aspects of maintenance and integrity management on oil and gas process equipment including rotating equipment, safety systems, utility systems, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.

4. Strong health, safety, environmental and regulatory compliance record and knowledge of MMS and USCG regulations.

5. Experience in simultaneous operations involving production, drilling, maintenance, marine and construction activities.

6. Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.

7. Demonstrated capability in general computing.

8. Good written and verbal communication skills.

9. Demonstrated leadership skills and good personal, interpersonal, and team skills.
Other Information

BHP Billiton has a strong acreage position in the Gulf of Mexico and in particular in deep and ultra deep water. Recent discoveries in this area, which are candidates for future BHP Billiton operated projects, include Shenzi, Shenzi, Cascade, and Chinook. These diverse opportunities offer a dynamic and growing project environment and are expected to deliver a significant part of the future growth of the company.

Candidates most suitable for this role will be expected to transition from a project role to an operations role. This position includes involvement in detailed design, fabrication, installation, commissioning, start-up and operation. This job will require temporary assignment to Houston, TX during the design phase of the project. During the execute phase of the project, further assignment to the fabrication site will be required.

The Maintenance Supervisor may be expected to work in the contractor’s office during the Design phase of the work. Once the projects move to the execute phase, the Maintenance Supervisor and other operations staff will likely relocate to the fabrication site to oversee the work, develop operating procedures, implement training and licensing requirements, participate in field acceptance testing and coordinate commissioning activities.

The candidate must be willing to travel internationally if required and be willing to take a temporary foreign assignment during the fabrication and commissioning phase if required. Upon completion of the execute phase, the Maintenance Supervisor will be a member of the offshore operations team Maintenance Supervisor and will work offshore on a rotational basis.
