Operations Geologist needed for a full-time opportunity with a premier E&P company in downtown Houston, Texas. The successful candidate will have 5 or more years of experience in Geoscience and, Oil and Gas Exploration and Production industry. Master’s degree preferred. Ideal candidate will have experience in wellsite operations, vendor coordination, and good communication skills. Ability to multi task with a proven track record of meeting expectations within operating company and with partner firms. Prefer candidate with offshore Gulf of Mexico experience, will consider previous experience as mudlogger, wellsite geologist, logging engineering etc. Must have outstanding organizational ability, must be self-motivated and a long range scheduler and planner. Determine time frames, deadlines, and work within those boundaries. Must have basic familiarity with drilling operations, wireline logging, LWD logging, mud logging. The role of the Operations Geologist is critical in moving wells forward from a proposed drillsite to a drilling well. The operations function has two aspects, the pre-drill process, followed by the well operations process. First, the pre-drill process includes solicitation of detailed cost estimates and well planning from Drilling Dept., planning, acquisition and monitoring of seafloor and shallow subsurface site assessments by various vendors. Also includes preparation of detailed geologic prognosis, evaluation and selection of vendors for both wireline logging and logging while drilling, mudlogging, wellsite geologists, core analysis, paleontologic evaluation of cuttings, secure database for posting of well data on a daily basis. The second process, geological well operations, includes selection of vendors through Supply Chain Group, supervising wellsite geologists and other personnel on rig involved with data collection, selection and management of secure database websites, writing and distributing morning reports, leading daily operations meetings, responsibility for receiving secure well data, getting it to staff and partners in a timely manner, and securing it for future use.
