Cost Engineer

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Economics, Business Administration, or Accounting, or closely related major. Experience: Minimum of nine years cost engineering experience including at least five years devoted to petrochemical, refinery, pipeline, or power generation projects. Must be familiar with construction practices, materials, equipment. For none engineers, minimum twelve (12) years cost engineering experience is required.

OR

Education: Certified by Institute of Building, Institute of Quantity Surveying, Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, HNC, HND.

Experience: Twelve years cost engineering experience including at least six years concentrated toward heavy industrial capital projects. Must be familiar with construction practices, materials, equipment. Must have ability to communicate fluently in both spoken and written English.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide overall capabilities to perform cost engineering duties on various projects.

Have ability to develop a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for a major project and create a budget on that basis.

Have ability to track actual costs against a budget and re-forecast to-go amounts.

Have ability to prepare an expenditure forecast for a project from the early conceptual stage to onstream.

Have ability to interpret contract language specifically as it relates to contract value, payments terms, contract milestones and progress measurement for payment.

Have ability to maintain logs for multiple contracts for invoices and change orders.

Have ability to prepare monthly status reports for Oil and Gas projects.

Have ability to interface with support organizations such as Finance and Contracting.

Have ability to provide guidance and answers in response to telephone questions from field cost engineers.
