SENIOR PROJECT CONTROLS SPECIALIST Anchorage, Alaska, USA

Position Summary:
Oversees the activities of the Project Controls Team. Engages in planning, developing and monitoring schedules and controlling costs for large projects with many complex features. This position reports directly to the Project Controls Supervisor.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Plans, develops and implements project controls standards and procedures.
2. Ensures that all project activities such as budget development, budget monitoring, updates, cash flow requirements, and recommendations for corrective action comply with company and client requirements.
3. Advises project management of cost impact of proposed design or construction changes.
4. Advises clients of cost trends and their effects on anticipated project expenditures.
5. Ensures that all project scheduling activities such as schedule development, updates, progress reporting, and recommendations for corrective action comply with company and client requirements.
Other Job Responsibilities:
1. Assists in the determination of project manpower requirements and prepares periodic forecasts of personnel utilization.
2. Provides technical guidance in analyzing and interpreting complex sections of project scope documents.
3. Participates in proposal preparation and client presentations.
4. Prepares conceptual, preliminary and definitive estimates.
5. Establishes methodologies and supervises life cycle cost analyses, economic/financial evaluations, productivity evaluations and value engineering analyses.
6. Develops and implements project scheduling standards and procedures.
7. Acts as a Lead Project Control Engineer as required for monitoring and controlling project controls for a large project with many complex features.
8. Typical duties are comparable to those of Senior Project Controls Engineer, but requires more technical expertise because of greater scope and complexity of projects.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Expertise:
1. Six to eight (6-8) years project controls experience or in relevant field is preferred.
2. Capability to apply diversified knowledge of project controls principals and practices.
3. Capability to make independent decisions on significant projects controls.
4. Complete understanding of the skills required for all lower classifications.
Education:
1. BA/BS college or university degree in engineering or relevant field is desired.
Required Training & Certificates:
1. Attend training sessions, seminars, and appropriate educational classes as required by department.
2. Possess current knowledge of educational business development and organizational practices.
3. Have excellent written and oral communications applicable to standards set by organization.
4. Computer skills commensurate with program and job applications.
