Our Safety team has an exciting opportunity for a Safety Technician within our corporate team. In this role, you will be stewarding safe systems of work, both personal and process, conducting inspections, and promoting training and competency development within our operating areas.
This position reports to the Senior Safety Specialist and is located in Calgary with travel to our various North American (NA) field locations. This opportunity will appeal to those seeking to continue developing their career within the Safety discipline through the coaching and mentoring of our accomplished Safety Specialists.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in the development and maintenance of Talisman's Safety Programs for North America Operations (NAO).
Partner with clients to secure early engagement and identify goals and objectives.
Implement personal and process safety procedures and processes.
Assist with the development, promotion, education and implementation of Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) principles.
Assist with incident investigations and emergency response situations.
Participate in workplace inspections.
Provide assistance with conducting safety audits and reports.
Support the administration of contractor management through input to contractor agreements, audits, and sponsoring contractor safety improvements.
Develop and maintain effective relationships with regulatory and industry bodies.
Qualifications:
Professional memberships in CRSP and/or CSP are definite assets.
5+ years direct Safety experience across industries.
Ability to travel to NA field locations.
Well develop analytical skills and attention to detail.
Working experience with root cause analysis i.e. Tap Root, Apollo, SCAT.
Working knowledge of regulations and the ability to apply them.
Demonstrated ability to establish credibility with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong communication skills - written, verbal and presentation.
Ability to influence skillfully with internal and external groups.
Capable of working effectively within teams and independently.
Skilled at remaining calm when under pressure.
Proficient in MS Office Suite.
Possess valid driver's license.
Ability to qualify for a US passport if required for business need.
