Engineer/Corrosion Specialist

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent of this position is considered an expert in one or more recognized engineering fields and is required to undertake or coordinate complex engineering work such as the following:

1. Initiates or conducts special studies for improving facilities or operation.

2. Provides special technical service in recognized engineering fields.

3. Acts as consultant on complex engineering problems, designs and/or projects.

4. Coordinates or directs work of other engineers.

5. Provides expert advice and assistance on matters pertaining to corrosion and scaling prediction, corrosion mitigation and monitoring, hydro-testing and equipment preservation (mothballing).

6. Performs corrosion failure investigations and special corrosion related studies.

7. Reviews corrosion mitigation and monitoring activities in the field to identify needed system modifications or procedural changes.

8. Coordinates and/or participates in corrosion discussions meetings.

9. Keeps current with significant developments in corrosion engineering.

10. Recommends new technologies in the field of corrosion.

11. Participates in safety compliance reviews as requested.

12. Develops and maintains corrosion related Saudi Aramco engineering standards.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

The incumbent of this position must have a BS Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 12 years of continuously progressive engineering experience with 9 years preferably in the oil industry or similar process industry. Special emphasis is placed on experience in deterioration mechanism, different materials deterioration models, and determining probability of failure criteria and interpreting consequences of corrosion failure in multiple consequence categories. Also, knowledge in risk manageability matrices taking into account confidence in corrosion control measures, assessment of resources required to perform comprehensive corrosion risk assessment, and asset level risk assessments. Strong analytical ability in problem solving, solid background in managing projects, experience in preparing & publishing technical articles, and work experience with a multi-national workforce is highly desirable.
