POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Work in a team to organize and assemble relevant geological and geophysical data including well logs, gravity, magnetic, geochemistry, core descriptions and geophysical data from a variety of sources. As part of the team, design and conduct geological and geophysical studies on a regional and local scale incorporating the basin tectonics to develop structural and depositional models that will be used to refine play fairways, guide exploration efforts and pursue detailed prospect assessment studies.

On a daily basis utilize geological and/or geophysical software such as Geoframe or Openworks to interpret seismic and/or produce cross sections and maps for use in the studies.

Detailed prospect studies will include integrating geological and geophysical data, including seismic inversion and attribute analysis results, to predict structure, lithology and porosity to evaluate the robustness of the prospect. The results will be used to provide geological input for prospect risk, reservoir parameters and develop deterministic and probabilistic volumetric estimates.

Attend prospect reviews with Joint Venture partners to review well proposals, evaluation programs and evaluate technical recommendations.

This will include the review, evaluation and formulation of recommendations for the design of log data acquisition, formation evaluation and testing programs in exploratory wells.

Monitor the daily progress and activities related to exploratory wells providing concise reports and recommendations for improving efficiency or evaluation. This will include preparation of post drilling analysis and post mortem studies.

Write concise technical reports, memos and presentations to document work progress and products.

Formulate recommendations for optimization, collaboration and efficiency improvements by identifying synergies in the Joint Ventures and Saudi Aramco exploration programs.


SELECTION CRITERIA:

10 years experience in exploration or reservoir characterization with a focus on integrated regional studies and/or prospect development is preferred. Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written are essential. Proficiency with geological software is required with expertise in mapping and/or cross section software packages. Candidate must have ability to perform integrated geological studies, prospect generation and be able to design and monitor geological aspects of exploratory wells including logging, testing, coring and analysis. Ability to interpret 2D and 3D seismic will be an asset. Familiarity with one or more of the following specializations is desired; reserves and resource assessment, play and prospect risking, petrophysics, formation evaluation, structural geology, basin modeling, geochemistry, sedimentology and/or sequence stratigraphy. Experience with Joint Venture exploration companies will be an asset.

BS Geology or a related science. Graduate study in a specialized discipline of Geology, a related science or other extended special training is desirable.
