Qualifications• A Bachelor's of Science in Geoscience or Engineering, a Master's Degree would be an asset.
• 15+ years of related industry experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of offshore experience, preferably deepwater.
• Experience developing 3-D geophysical, geological and reservoir fluid flow models.
• Able to develop a full probabilistic assessment of in-place and recoverable hydrocarbons.
• Strong knowledge of exploration and production operations.
• Sound knowledge of geological, geophysical and reservoir engineering disciplines with particular strength in reservoir engineering.
• Demonstrated experience leading a multi-disciplinary team.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
ResponsibilitiesThe Liwan Development Project Team is looking for a Subsurface Manager to lead the Geoscience and Reservoir Engineering groups and be responsible for all subsurface activities within the Project Team. This key management position also includes the delineation and development of the deepwater Liwan 3-1 discovery and exploration activities within the Liwan Area of Block 29/26, located in the South China Sea.
• Ensure a high level of HS&E awareness is maintained at all times.
• Set and manage the subsurface team�s budget.
• Formulate, recommend and implement project plans and schedules.
• Establish and manage the multi-disciplinary work scope for the subsurface team.
• Establish and manage the subsurface and reservoir development plan for the Liwan 3-1 development.
• Develop, recommend and manage exploration, delineation and development drilling programs within the Liwan 3-1 area.
• Ensure a high standard of both technical and commercial performance is achieved at all times.
• Provide and maintain commercial awareness.
• Help to formulate, support and advocate a common vision within the team.
• Build a culture of strong and effective teamwork within the Liwan team.
• Build and maintain strong and effective managerial and technical relationships with China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), it�s representatives and other regulatory agencies in China.
• Build and maintain strong and effective working relationships with internal stakeholders.
• Report directly to Liwan Senior Project Manager.
• Present and recommend evaluations and depletion plans to senior management, owner committees and regulatory bodies.
• Establish reservoir management strategy, set production and injection targets, and monitor field production performance, making updates as required to maximize project value.
RequirementsAlthough this is a Calgary-based position, a willingness to live and work in a foreign country is a definite asset.
