POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Duties & Responsibilities:

The applicant will be required to describe cores of clastic rocks to define lithofacies and interpret the sequence stratigraphy of clastic successions as a member of multi-disciplinary exploration and development teams. Data acquisition from whole cores, plugs, cuttings and their integration with petrophysical data from open-hole logs to develop reservoir-scale models are essential parts of daily activity. The applicant is expected to proactively solve technical problems with state of the art knowledge of process sedimentology, petrography and diagenesis to improve understanding of clastic reservoirs. The ultimate objectives of the work are to achieve an understanding of clastic depositional environments, diagenesis, reservoir framework and assess their effect on reservoir quality. After hours and weekend operational work will be required at short notice.


SELECTION CRITERIA:

The candidate should have:

An M.S. or Ph.D. in clastic sedimentology.

Industrial experience of clastic sedimentology applied to hydrocarbon exploration is preferred.

Experienced in core description of clastic sediments.

Work experience on clastic hydrocarbon reservoirs.

The skills to work in multi-discipline teams and communicate technical results effectively.

An understanding of sedimentological controls on reservoir quality.

Experienced in sequence stratigraphy and sedimentological modeling on basin scale.

Minimum Requirement: 10 years of experience with Bachelor s degree in Geology or a related science (advanced degree preferred).
