Geological Specialist - Well

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide extensive hands-on data management of well data including well log data.

Utilize data management practices and solid geological expertise to manage well data in the Oracle database as well as in the Geoframe, Openworks and Geolog environments.

Provide data transfer of well data to the GeoFrame, Openworks and Geolog environments.

Proactively analyze and enhance the data quality of well data including well header, deviation survey, logs, markers and other engineering and geological well data.

Edit well log data, including splicing and depth matching the logs to Saudi Aramco standards.

Use applications, including SQL and scripting as necessary, to manage, load, retrieve and manipulate well data in the Oracle databases and other project databases.

Collaborate with well data producers, facilitate and coordinate complete, accurate and timely data management solutions for well data.

Provide well data support for geoscientists in the exploration and development departments.

Provide consulting, training, and mentoring to junior well data management professionals.

Keep abreast of technologies, and assist documentation of well data management requirements to take advantage of new techniques and innovations.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

The candidate should have:

10 years oil industry experience including recent experience in well data management.

Proven skills in well data management is required.

Solid knowledge of geological and engineering well data is required.

Data management and well data support experience using GeoFrame, Openworks, Geolog, and LogDB is required.

Work experience with major oil or service company is preferred.

Excellent command of English and communication skills; written, verbal, and presentation skills are required, with a suitable personality to deal harmoniously with others.

Minimum Requirement: 10 years experience. Bachelor s degree in Geology or a related science. Advanced degree will be preferred.
