Sr. Scientific Programmer

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Initiate, lead, provide consultation and conduct practical research in the development of reservoir simulators individually and/or along with a team utilizing the latest in parallel programming paradigms. The ability to develop and or maintain code for modern parallel computing environments is required. The ability to generate new ideas and projects, and contribute substantially to existing efforts is required. Ability and desire to mentor young professionals is also required. Provide expert training and teach technical in-house courses and workshops/forums. Prepare technical papers for professional societies local and/or international technical meetings, conferences, forums and workshops.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Candidate should hold an advanced degree in computer science or a closely related subject (e.g., mechanical or chemical engineering), with a PhD degree being highly preferred. It would be expected that the candidate would have 10 or more years combined experience in the oil industry, academia and/or government employment related to computer science. A strong knowledge / experience in modern parallel programming is required. In addition, strong experience in modern parallel computer programming environments like MPI, Open MP and Hybrid communication schemes is required. Preference will be given to experience in a mixed MPI/Open MP environment necessary to obtain maximum performance from multi-core computer architectures. Excellence in research will be evidenced by the candidate s publications, invited presentations, patents, professional awards and honors, and professional society activities. Mentor young researchers.

The Saudi Aramco EXPEC Advanced Research Center (EXPEC ARC) provides an environment for creativity and innovation in the upstream sector by creating new opportunities to find, develop, and produce hydrocarbon resources, developing cost-effective solutions to meet Saudi Aramco s unique upstream challenges. EXPEC ARC is organized into the following technology teams: Geophysics Technology Team, Geology Technology Team, Computational Modeling Team (CMT), Drilling Technology Team & Reservoir Technology Team, Technology Strategic Analysis team etc. CMT is responsible for developing the next generation reservoir simulator for Saudi Aramco. Highly motivated and team oriented personnel are needed to met our goals.
