POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Initiate, lead, provide consultation, conduct advanced technical lab support and applied research in all aspects of formation damage. The candidates should have previous knowledge in various types of damage encountered in carbonate and sandstone reservoirs. Should be able to theoretically model loss of injectivity due to suspended solids and oil. The candidate should be aware of clays type and their impact of formation damage during various stages of the wells, including: drilling, completion and stimulation. Knowledge of clays and their behaviors with various fluids is important. The candidate should be familiar with lab equipment and set up that are needed to assess and evaluate various damaging mechanism, including: drilling mud filter cake, core flood set-up, zeta potential, interfacial properties, and wettability. The candidate should have experience dealing with core, and how to restores their initial state. Ability to communicate and steer applied research with various international R&D organizations. Ability and desire to mentor young professionals and ability to communicate with production, reservoir and drilling engineers and geologists.


SELECTION CRITERIA:

Candidate should hold advanced degree in petroleum or chemical engineering (PhD is preferred). It would be expected that the candidate would have 10 years combined experience in the oil industry, academia and/or government employment related to formation damage and restoration. Excellence in specialty will be evidenced by the candidate s publications, invited presentations, patents, professional awards and honors, and professional society activities. The candidate would be expected to be experienced in a broad variety of well productivity enhancement technology areas, and have worked in a variety of reservoirs and fluid types. Significant knowledge of other areas such as geology, rock mechanics, and chemistry is essential. International travel and mentorship of young professionals are expected.
