Agency Management - Business Process Improvement

The role is responsible for driving process improvement throughout the network of UASC controlled shipping agencies at either macro level i.e. across agencies or at micro level within an agency. It will have direct cost management impact on the agency network through standardisation and elimination of wasteful processes. The incumbent will be capable of filling in for the VP as required. The incumbent will lead the interface between the agencies and IT.

IMPACT
The Agency Management division contributes to the achievement of the costs, profitability and indirectly the operating revenue of the network of 40+ agents of UASC in 200+ locations. These agencies are located throughout the world, primarily in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Cost management: $30m
Profit: $5-15m
Cash management: $500m
Entities: Current – 14 individual UASAC entities
No Direct Reports

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
Job profile will include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Assessment of new trends in agency and regional shipping processes and creating new ways of working to improve efficiency.
• Undertake forensic research at agency (individual or multi-location / country) level to identify weaknesses and waste
• Develop solutions to streamline processes and eliminate waste.
 Carry out centrally run initiatives as directed such as leading the Project Management for Model Agency or Model Office within TRUST.
 Lead the interface between agencies and IT for the introduction, development and modification of new processes. Recommend the acceptance and rejection of strategic and tactical process changes.
 Experienced in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)
 Able to fill in for the VP as required

RELATIONSHIPS

Working directly for the VP and must be capable of dealing with any issues in his absence
Indirect relationship to a network of 2000+ people across the globe.
External: General Managers of agencies, Finance manager of agencies
Internal: Vice Presidents, Regional Management,

PERSON SPECIFICATION
To perform this job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following experience, knowledge and abilities:

Qualifications & Experience
 Graduate with business subject knowledge.
 Min. 5-years of progressive experience in BPI preferably in a shipping or related transport field.
 Has worked in a multi-country, above country management environment with at least medium level complexity
 Excellent knowledge and experience of change processes in IS.
 Extensive understanding of Process Management
 Good understanding of Information Systems (Spreadsheet Software)
 Fluency in written and spoken English.
