Exploration System Specialist

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: BS Earth Science, Computer Science or closely related field. MS or PhD preferred.

Experience: 12 years experience with at least 8 years directly related to exploration computer applications development and support. During this work experience, the individual would have demonstrated outstanding performance and would have functioned independently as a high level professional. Individual must possess outstanding analytical abilities. Excellent command of English language is required to prepare complex technical reports and oral presentations in a clear, concise and factual manner.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides expert advice, guidance, and support during the analysis and development phases of new system; develops and schedules for major equipment or program installations, upgrades, or conversions; coordinates details with vendors.

Analyzes applications or operations problems; proposes scope and course of actions; makes suggestions to Management; follows through to a satisfactory conclusion.

Reviews existing operations within his area of assignment to determine potential problems; performs cost analyses and procedures, as necessary.

Keeps informed of trends and developments throughout the computer industry; analyzes various economic alternatives for Company investment in computer resources and provides background information regarding the profitable application of computer technology. Guides, counsels, and trains personnel in user organizations to ensure their thorough understanding of systems and equipment conversions or upgrades; provides solutions to problems that recur during the utilization of installed systems and equipment; monitors technical work performance for adherence to accepted professional standards as well as ARAMCO s internal computer systems standards. Participates in the activities of the technical and professional societies; serves on working committees within such groups; may attend national and international congresses or conferences.
