Working directly for one of the Big-Four Exploration & Production Companies is often a dream that can never be realised for most designers. Over the years the Engineering & Design jobs have all been with consultancies, but one of the majors is staying true to its commitment to retaining the best technical and engineering expertise in-house.
With a current project portfolio that ensures ongoing work over a number of sites, we have an immediate need to add expertise to the close-knit and experienced design team based in the Melbourne office. We are recruiting for a similarly experienced Piping Designer who can hit the ground running and apply their skills to maintain continuity for the project team.
Expected critical competencies that you will bring with you include:
Certification in CADWORX, or a high level user of AutoCad 2D/ 3D
Ability to thoroughly read a P & IDs (from schematics), survey drawings and piping/ plant layouts.
Understanding of process plants via PFDs and in particular, a familiarity with the concept and scale of heat exchangers, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, sliding pipe supports and the positioning of valves.
Basic understanding of related structural aspects of piping such as pipe bridges.
The close knit team is a high producing one with a strong focus on project delivery that can only come from working on the client side. Training, support and development are a key aspect to the low turnover within the group, and explain why these opportunities are so rarely available.
