Position Synopsis
This position provides financial oversight of the accounting and reporting of income taxes (income tax and PRRT) and secondary taxes (GST and others) for the Stybarrow, Griffin, Pyrenees, Minerva and various exploration assets in the Australia/Asia region of the Petroleum Group.
The scope of the position covers the full E2E tax process including provision of indirect taxation advice to relevant assets, budgeting and forecasting, internal control (SOX, Stewardship Reviews and audits) and Accounting and Reporting activities (monthly journal and reconciliation reviews and annual accounts preparation). Some project work in relation to standardization of accounting/modelling approaches and master data setup will also form a part of the position’s responsibilities.
The incumbent will be expected to liaise directly with Group Tax, Global Business Services, Global Controllers teams (Houston), regional Joint Interest Unit and Production Unit management and Petroleum Finance business partners.
This position reports to the Finance Lead - Australia / Asia Tax team
Skills and Experience
As a tertiary qualified professional in Accounting or Finance, ideally with CA or CPA qualifications, you will bring to the role considerable experience in taxation with strong exposure to corporate income tax, PRRT and other secondary taxes in Australia.
Your superior interpersonal skills will be the key to your success in your daily liaison with various customer and stakeholder groups. You work with proven high attention to detail and your depth of experience allows you to work independently with minimal supervision.
Your previous exposure to SAP R/3, MS Excel and electronic document management systems will be well regarded, as would previous experience within the Oil & Gas industry.
