• Provision of high quality, cutting edge quantitative interpretation work across the spectrum of Quantitative Geophysics. This includes: (1) petrophysical trending, (2) stochastic AVO prediction, (3) stochastic wavelet derivation, (3) wavelet decomposition, (4) integrated risk analysis, (4) stochastic model based inversion, (5) analysis of CSEM data

• Project management of quantitative interpretation work done

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist geoscientists in quantitative analysis and related applications;

• Apply the appropriate parts of the BHPB QI Toolset for the analysis of projects across the portfolio, communicate results to business teams in a timely manner

• Provide advice and support to asset teams on the application of appropriate Quantitative Interpretation technology, techniques and methods of analysis.

• Identify technology/workflow improvements, and recommend those that should be introduced and disseminated within BHPB.

• Develop and maintain networks and relationships with key persons (internal and external to BHP Billiton), research bodies, professional associates etc in order to promote the interests of BHPBilliton Petroleum.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Master or PhD (preferred) in Geophysics, Mathematics, or Physics

• 15 plus years professional technology experience

• Significant experience and excellent understanding of probabilistic methods as applied to risking and uncertainty analysis

• Experience in EM and Seismic QI applications

• Understanding of E&P business

• Excellent project management skills

• Strong communication skills

• Strong business analytical skills

Languages: English Fluent
