Job descriptionPurpose / Role:
• To support the Principal Engineer, and to work with the Process Team in delivering the Process Engineering Design meeting the Client criteria for Technical Design Quality, Technical Safety and within allocated timescale.
• The work involves conceptual and detail design for offshore brownfield projects in a developing organisation.
Key aims and objectives:
• To continue own personal development with objective of moving to Lead or first Management position within AMEC Natural Resources business area within 5 years maximum.
• To actively take part in and support the career development of the teams graduate and other technical design personnel.
Prime responsibilities and duties:
• Preparation of Process design including front end, detail design and close out deliverables, as directed by the Principal Engineer.
• To work with the Engineering Team in providing safe designs.
Allied occasional duties:
• Represent the Company at external functions, roll-outs and communication sessions such as graduate recruitment and events.
• Prepare and provide graduate and technical development sessions.
• Occasional short offshore visits to survey and develop designs.
Key internal interfaces
• Other disciplines – especially instruments, piping, mechanical and technical safety.
• Asset Project team, Procurement, Planning, QA, HSE
RequirementsEssential:
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent in appropriate chemical engineering subject
Essential:
• A number of process engineering design roles in the offshore engineering industry
• Experience in upstream production of hydrocarbons
• Awareness of area classification requirements for offshore installations
• Awareness of hazard management requirements including experience in HAZID and HAZOP processes
• Ability in use of process calculation packages such as Hysys and Flarenet
Core competencies:
• Competent technically in discipline.
• Good communication skills and able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Likely Current Role:
• Recently achieved senior engineer position in an offshore design engineering house (contractor or consultant).
• Alternately working for operating company and will have significant design /brownfields experience.
• Probably completed a graduate training programme and embarking on career at Senior Engineer level.
• Able to motivate and encourage work colleagues – positive attitude, team player.
• Potential to be able to take and lead in motivation, training, and ongoing development/coaching of junior team.
• Potential to be able to set targets for engineers and designers and then follow up to achieve, delivering to plan.
