Location: Saudi Arabia POSITION DESCRIPTION: The incumbent will operate across the technology management function, initially supporting ongoing activities and acting as a coordinator of internal technical teams, to ensure consistency with strategic directions, leading to increasing emphasis on managing personal projects as a team leader in the area of intelligence gathering and collaboration development with outside research and industrial entities for a given portfolio of interest areas.
The primary duties of the successful candidate are as follows: (a) review and update of engineering standards and materials specifications pertaining to power system protection and automation. b) RSA activities including the RVL of protection equipments. (c) provide technical consultations, training and operation support. (d) introduce and implement viable new technologies. (e) field investigations during blackouts and contingencies. (f) integration of various automation functions and equipment monitoring systems. (g) participation in the Substation Automation Optimization Program.
SELECTION CRITERIA: The candidate should have a MS Electrical Engineering Degree and a minimum of 10 years experience in the electrical system automation that includes monitoring, protection and control with greater emphasis on protection. Incumbent's experience should include preparation of materials specifications and engineering standards, technical review of project design and specifications, substation automation solutions and technologies, field investigations during blackouts and contingencies, and technical support to operating facilities for issues related to protection and automation.
COMMENTS: The Inspection Department is charged with the corporate responsibility for Inspection of materials and equipment purchased, and equipment and facilities constructed for Saudi Aramco. The incumbent will be assigned to the Inspection Department's Operations Division, Plant Integrity Unit where the incumbent will have frequent contacts with operating Division and Unit Heads to ascertain problems, define scope of projects, and develop solutions. There will be occasional contact with Managers and infrequent contact with Executive Management in responding to inquiries or presenting conclusions of their research. In addition, there will be frequent contacts with suppliers of data and information such as estimating engineers and construction engineers.
