Basic Functions:
Serves as an advisor to TAQA NORTH on complex reservoir engineering matters.
Develop in house reservoir simulation capabilities and expertise.
Identify exploitation opportunities, both technical and economic, to maximize asset value.
Develop and help implement long-term depletion strategies for producing reservoirs.
Assist with annual reserve evaluations in cooperation with an independent engineering firm.
Relationships:
Reports to the Manager, Southern Business Unit.
Works with a multi-discipline team including the Exploitation and Production Engineers, Geologist, Geophysicist, Landman, Engineering Tech, Production Analyst, etc.
Consults to all three Business Units and the A&D Group within TAQA NORTH for projects requiring advanced reservoir engineering input or reservoir simulation work
Specific Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain advanced reservoir modeling capabilities within the TAQA NORTH organization. Mentor other engineering staff with respect to this function.
Provide direction for the construction of reservoir models for larger pools in conjunction with exploitation and geoscience staff for the purpose of quantifying OOIP, assessing performance and identifying opportunities. Lead the efforts for the progression of these models into dynamic simulation including the provision of the justification for the simulation.
Contribute to the design and implementation of the tools and processes required to effectively monitor, manage and optimize producing reservoir performance.
Assist with the forecast of future production volumes and stewardship of results including the annual reserves determination for existing producing wells/pools.
Identify optimization opportunities, technology applications, and value maximizing initiatives on a proactive basis.
Qualifications:
P. Engineer with 15+ years of experience in oil and gas.
Enthusiastic, highly motivated, team player with good organizational and technical skills.
Experience working with PTA, special core analysis and other petrophysical data to formulate comprehensive reservoir characterizations used in reservoir simulation.
Extensive experience building new reservoir models incorporating detailed stratigraphic, structural, petrophysical (core and log) and reservoir fluid inputs.
Experience with compositional simulation is desirable to facilitate studies of CO2 injection.
Willingness to do what has to be done to meet and exceed targets.
Creative individual with a desire to continuously learn and develop their skills.
