Basic Functions:
The Production Engineer is assigned technical responsibility for specific oil and gas properties within a business unit. Working closely with a team of professionals the Production Engineer will provide technical support to the business unit and field operating staff on the design, implementation and operation of artificial lift, gathering systems and production facilities
As a member of the team you will jointly prepare budgets, conduct field operations, monitor performance and initiate action to ensure that budgeted cash flow is maintained and net present value is maximized
Relationships:
Reports to the Manager, Production Engineering
Works closely with the area field staff to maximize production and minimize costs..
Works with Production Accountant to ensure proper production measurement and allocation..
Works with Property Analyst to monitor costs, enhance fees and improve area profitability..
Obtains advice and input as required from other technical staff (E.G&G, JV, Land, etc.).
Specific Responsibilities:
Develops production budgets for the property consistent with the reservoir depletion plan and the capital budget..
Initiates workovers and facility modifications to optimize production..
Conceives and implements capital projects which add value to the property..
Ensure projects are safely completed on time and within budget..
Tracks results of workovers and well optimization projects including dollars spent and production impact..
Initiates activities to reduce operating costs and improve efficiencies..
Develops and maintains good working relationship with field staff; visits the field regularly..
Assists in the review of reserves assigned to the property to ensure proper recognition and valuation..
When required assists in the evaluation of potential acquisitions/divestitures by identifying upside.
Qualifications:
Engineer or Sr. Engineering Technologist.
5 + years experience in oil and gas engineering in Western Canada with some field experience..
Experienced in downhole work plus a good knowledge of surface facilities..
Excellent knowledge of artificial lift systems..
Well organized, good computer skills, effective time manager..
Ability to work independently, initiate projects and set priorities..
Good communications with peers and field staff.
