Position Synopsis
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a strong leader to supervise and co-ordinate the Whaleback Lifting Services Team. This team is a multi discipline team primarily responsible for all mobile crane lifting activities across the Whaleback site. Reporting directly to the Superintendent Infrastructure and Services, you will be responsible for the day to day supervision and coordination of the team. This is a vital role within Whaleback Operations.
Your core accountabilities will include;
* An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development;
* Coordination of assets (BHPBIO and Contractor) to ensure site lifting activities are carried out in line with FRCS and Procedural Requirements;
* Coordination of BHP Billiton personnel, contractors and sub-contractors as required;
* Ensuring that appropriate plans are developed to manage all work within the operational and budgetary requirements;
* Conducting workplace area inspections both throughout your area of responsibility and other areas across sites;
* Liaising with area planners to assist with the development of daily, weekly and quarterly plans, as well as the two year budget and 5 year Infrastructure plan;
* Reporting on the performance of your team regularly to meet the business requirements of the Infrastructure and Services Business Plan;
* Liaise with departments in areas of responsibility where Infrastructure works will impact on day to day or shutdown maintenance to ensure integration of activities;
* Ensure that all work carried out by persons in relation to lifting operations is adequately supervised;
* Ensure working relationships of Lifting Services team members are maintained and developed;
* Advises site personnel on Lifting matters as required;
* Mentor and coach direct reports (crane operators, riggers, dogmen, truck drivers); and
* Active participation to reinstate equipment in the event of a breakdown (Fixed Plant, Mobile Equipment, Rail, Infrastructure).
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will have a CO Certification (Slewing Mobile Cranes >100 tonnes), Intermediate Rigger Certification and a HC Drivers License. You will also ideally have several years’ supervisory experience and have a proven ability in demonstrating, leading and implementing strong safety systems and culture within your team, and present a management style that is supportive, inspiring, engaging and motivating.
Your success will be driven by your commitment and ability to quickly gain credibility with key internal and external customers and your effective communication skills in presenting plans and idea in a clear and concise manner.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications and experience in SAP is highly regarded.
