Location: Australia BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s mining operations in the spectacular Pilbara region of WA are one of the largest in the world, shipping more than 120Mtpa of iron ore. Our railways, consisting of more than 800km of track, connect our mines in the Pilbara with our shipping facilities in Port Hedland. The heavy haulage rail system, the heaviest in the world, with more than 100 locomotives and around 4,500 carriages, uses state of the art technology across all facets of the operation.
Position Synopsis
We seek a highly motivated Electrical Tradesperson to work in the Rail Tracks and Signals Department.
You will be required to work safely and efficiently provide quality maintenance services, commissioning, fault finding, and repair, in all areas of Tracks and Signals Infrastructure.
With an eye on adhering to specific procedures for the repair and maintenance of equipment, your core accountabilities will include:
* Understanding of plant layouts and processes;
* Operation of plant and mobile equipment within limits of competence and training;
* Carrying out checks on equipment as required;
* Undertaking housekeeping and housekeeping inspections;
* Accurate completion of documentation including drawings and technical reports as necessary;
* Use of computerised maintenance systems;
* Undertake training as required to gain new skills;
* Provide training where required to other personnel;
* Provide relief in the Area Electrical Supervisors role;
* Participate in safety meetings and site safety programmes;
* Follow maintenance work management processes;
* Comply with all HSEC policies, procedures and guidelines; and
* Adhere to BHPB Charter Values at all times.
Skills & Experience
To be considered, you will have an appropriate Electrical Trade Qualification. This will be complemented by your previous experience in maintaining fixed and mobile plant within a mining, mineral processing or heavy industry sector. Post-trade studies will be highly regarded and proven faultfinding and diagnostic experience with PLCs along with other electrical equipment. An ‘A’ class driver’s licence is required.
Proficient with computerised maintenance systems, ideally SAP, you will also display a methodical, systematic approach to work, coupled with a strong sense of personal responsibility, and effective problem solving capabilities. Your track record clearly demonstrates a history of safe work practices, with evidence of your proactive approach in the safety arena.
Location
This role is based in Port Hedland and is offered on a Fly In Fly out basis from Perth on a family friendly roster. A competitive remuneration package is offered commensurate with experience, and includes performance incentive and a generous superannuation scheme, as well as other benefits.
