Position Synopsis
The Resource Planning department is a core function of BHP Billiton’s Iron Ore business, providing mineral resource and mine planning input to operating mines, optimised mine planning and business evaluation functions to ensure future business growth. This Perth based function employs Mining Engineers and Geologists responsible for long term mine planning and resource modelling.
Within this team, the Superintendent Resource Planning Optimisation will lead directional and innovative resource planning initiatives to generate value adding investment options. This role will also contribute to peer review and internal due diligence to key business processes.
As an achievement-oriented and experienced leader you will influence the development, study and the implementation of strategic framework and programs to deliver optimum long term value to BHP Billiton Iron Ore, focussing on its Western Australian operations.
You will be able to demonstrate the following:
* Understanding of mine planning process and systems;
* Comprehensive knowledge of scheduling systems and approaches;
* Sound knowledge of mine planning software including Vulcan;
* Strong operations and practical experience in mine scheduling and design concepts;
* Experience in mine cost modelling;
* Ability to present concepts and results; and
* Understanding of complex technical information from a variety of technical disciplines.
Skills and Experience
With relevant tertiary qualifications, ideally including post graduate qualifications such as an MBA, and significant experience you will engage in projects from desktop to identification studies. You will have a broad knowledge of the mining industry and exposure to the breadth of the value chain. This coupled with your critical thinking and analytical skills will complement your leadership of strategy development for significant medium to long term growth projects.
