BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance has a vacancy in its Supply Services team based in Mackay for a Strategic Sourcing Officer. Reporting to the Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will provide support in securing supply of critical commodities and future production requirements through efficient and effective demand and forecasting processes. You will ensure maximum value is achieved through proficient vendor performance management and supply chain optimisation, reducing the total cost of ownership.
Role Accountabilities include:
* Develop and execute supply chain strategies to support the existing and future requirements of mine site and port operations;
* Compile request for quotes and tender requirements to market as required;
* Evaluate proposals including financial analysis; preparing presentations of key data and recommendations;
* Establish contractual documentation as required;

Establish / update the total cost of ownership data for the strategic commodity portfolio; monitoring past, current and future expenditure levels;
*
Administer the indent and forecasting process for strategic commodity portfolio (obtain information, monitor and report on forecast accuracy);
* Investigate and optimise the use of electronic information transfer solutions for demand planning, forecasting and payment processes;
* Vendor performance management - conduct price reviews; manage the vendor’s contractual reporting of their performance via defined key performance reporting mechanisms, record and manage corrective actions;
* Research opportunities in the supply marketplace that will improve material and information flows, thereby reducing the total cost of ownership for strategic commodities;
* Actively engaging with customers and stakeholders to ensure that their input into decision making is obtained in a timely manner, ensuring that communication lines are open;
* Actively contribute to best HSEC practices and support the supply quality system and continuous improvement programmes.
Role Competencies include:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Supply or Commerce preferred or relevant Supply experience;
* Proficiency in Supply / Commodity field gained through experience in this area with exposure to complex practices and procedures;
* Expert with MS Office suite applications, Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
* Competence in the use of supply systems eg. SAP R3;
* Good understanding of key business and industry success drivers;
* Fluent communicator;
This is a permanent position based in Mackay.
