Location: Australia BHP Billiton Worsley Alumina is the joint venture operation of BHP Billiton, Japan Alumina Associates and Sojitz Alumina. Worsley has developed a strategic approach to growing its business by means of the Efficiency and Growth and Marradong Projects. The Projects encompass all aspects of operation from the mine, bauxite delivery, refining process and shipping of finished product.
There is a vacancy for a Project Engineer working within the Project Owner’s Team associated with the Marradong Mine project. This position is responsible to ensure delivery of specific Scopes of Work for the project with the support of an EPCM contractor.
Duties include:
• facilitating the interface between construction and operations
• ensuring that detailed and integrated construction and shutdown planning is conducted (multi-discipline)
• maximize construction productivity while mininmising operations impact
• undertaking an audit role during construction, including reporting on quality and progress
• conducting safety audits / observations to promote a zero harm approach by the project
• ensuring the provision of the required deliverables within the contract terms
• monitoring equipment installation against Standards
• monitoring and witnessing acceptance tests
• participation in the preparation and sign off of punch lists
Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline along with previous project experience, particularly with projects associated with the mineral processing industry, are considered necessary requirements for this position.
Detailed knowledge of relevant standards and statutory requirements and the ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, including both construction and operations personnel, through use of effective communication and organisational skills, are important attributes for this position.
