Geological Modeler – Resident Damascus, Syria
Tanganyika Oil Company Ltd.1 is an international oil and gas exploration and production company with interests in exploration and development properties in Syria. Tanganyika operates through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SIPC (Syria) Limited. Tanganyika has made significant achievements with the appraisal of value enhancing opportunities in Syria which has included testing enhanced oil recovery ("EOR") techniques and exploration drilling. The stated objectives of the Company include the consistent growth of reserves and production. On December 19th, 2008, Tanganyika became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sinopec International
Petroleum Exploration and Production Corporation (“SIPC”). SIPC is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Petrochemical Corporation ("Sinopec Group") and undertakes overseas investments and operations in the upstream oil and gas sector. Sinopec Group is China's largest producer and supplier of oil products and major petrochemical products. Prior to being acquired by Sinopec, Tanganyika was publicly listed with shares trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange and Depository Receipts trading on the Nordic exchange.
Geological Modeler – Resident – Damascus, Syria
Reporting to the Asset Development, Team Lead and working within a multi-disciplinary environment, this individual will provide geological input to the development and producing assets within the company.
Responsibilities:
�� Construct 3D geological and reservoir models through the integration of all subsurface data, to be used as a basis for reservoir simulation
�� Provide different scenarios for the model for uncertainty analysis
�� Work within a multi-disciplinary environment to provide geological input to the development and producing assets within the company
�� Assist in preparing well proposals and interface with drilling engineering and operations team when required
�� Develop and maintain good working relationships with external stakeholders including joint venture partners and government representatives
�� Prepare comprehensive documentation of all major work and studies undertaken
�� Any other activities as requested to support OPC success
Qualifications:
�� International experience is essential
�� B. Sc. degree in Petroleum Geosciences or a related discipline (Bachelor of Science or Master of Science)
�� 10+ years of solid experience as an integrated reservoir modeler
�� Experience in working with fractured carbonate reservoirs is a must
�� Track and record in 3D reservoir modeling, ideally using SIS software applications
�� Good understanding of seismic 3D & 2D interpretation and mapping
�� Good understanding of log analysis and formation evaluation; advanced log analysis / formation evaluation skills would be an advantage
�� Analytical skills to integrate and interpret a broad variety of data sets
�� Strongly computer literate
�� A self-motivated team player who assists in creating an enthusiastic and positive multi-disciplinary team environment
�� Effective communication skills in oral and written English mandatory; ability to converse in Arabic is an asset
