Overview
The Training Specialist functions are to work under the direction of the Technical Training Manager to identify technical training needs, develop training strategies and programs and identify resources to meet the needs of US and International employees of this large oil and gas operating company.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with US and International clients and onsite training personnel.
Design, develop and implement programs using Instructional System Design process to meet competency requirements for operations and maintenance positions, petro-technical staff and support organizations.
Apply knowledge of operations and maintenance equipment and processes to assist in development and implementation of operations and maintenance programs for domestic and international clients.
Develop and coordinate the distribution of training information and materials to promote standardization throughout the organization.
Support the training manager to coordinate technical training activities throughout the organization. Arrange for the scheduling of training sessions and conducts appropriate training courses as needed. Ensure that personnel delivering training are qualified.
Collaborate with Learning Services Group to design, develop and administer computer based training applications as needed.
Maintain a working knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting training to ensure programs meet requirements.
Collaborate with field personnel to identify opportunities to serve as resource to conduct training for core topic areas, especially to support PSM guidelines for initial, refresher and trainer qualifications.
Maintain an awareness of the latest developments and techniques in the training and development field.
Provide guidance for field locations to implement Company’s learning management system (VTA) to meet company’s standard policies as well as meet PSM requirements.
Collaborate with Organizational Development staff and internal clients to assess organizational effectiveness and collaborate to identify solutions as needed. Plan and manage internal and external programs.
Qualifications
Degree: Bachelors Preferred
Major Discipline: Engineering, Instructional Technology
Years Experience Required: Five or more years training or related experience in oil and gas related operations or a similar industrial environment.
Computer Proficiencies: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Certifications: Train the Trainer and/or Curriculum Design Certifications desirable
