BMA is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced Electrical Engineer at its Saraji Mine.
Saraji is an open cut operation which uses draglines and truck and shovel fleets to expose, haul and produce over 8 mtpa of hard coking coal. Our employees live in Dysart - a modern town of 3,500, 240km from Mackay and the Whitsunday Coast.
Reporting to the Superintendent - Maintenance Engineering, this role is pivotal to achieving maximum availability of open cut machinery and equipment, by providing expertise in the management of electrical maintenance, capital projects and shutdowns in support of achieving the mines business plan.
Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to the following:
Develop, implement, manage and monitor electrical maintenance and process control systems, power reticulation systems and switching techniques.
Provide leadership and support to crews in order to achieve operating targets.
Provide technical input and advice for Maintenance coordinators on major shutdowns.
Identify, implement and monitor opportunities to improve equipment performance.
Ensure electrical, PLC, instrumentation and communication work is carried out to standard.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Effective communication skills, to deliver leadership in the management of electrical maintenance optimising the performance of the mine.
Significant experience in mining/mineral processing, heavy industry.
Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering
Pro-active approach for continuous improvement and optimisation to achieve best business practice.
Experience in budgeting, forecasting and monitoring of maintenance costs
Previous Supervisory experience.
