Our most recent growth project, Rapid Growth Project 5, will take installed capacity at our Western Australian Iron Ore operations to 205mpta by the second half of calendar year 2011.

Position Synopsis

A position currently exists for a highly motivated, team orientated health professional to join the Health, Safety, and Environment Department in the capacity of the Health and Hygiene Advisor position. Reporting to the Superintendent Health and Safety, the purpose of the position is to provide advice and guidance to site personnel around health and hygiene, and assist with or conduct injury management in accordance with site injury management protocols.

The core accountabilities for the position include but are not limited to

* Ensuring that the Hygiene team maintain records of monitoring in relevant Hygiene databases and analyse results within a set timeframe;
* Assisting the Occupational Health Nurse in reviewing pre-employment medicals as required;
* Plan and execute targeted health promotion activities aligned with the site health risk profile;
* Monitor the site conformance to the defined injury management process;
* Conduct ergonomic assessments of workstations as required; and
* Maintain regular contact with Medical Practitioners in the Newman township.

Skills and Experience

To be considered a tertiary qualification in a health related discipline is essential. Experience in the Heavy Industry or Mining Industry is highly desirable along with recognition as a Surface Ventilation Technician or Surface Ventilation Officer.

You must have excellent communication and presentation skills, as you will interact with a diverse range of people. Similarly you will have a proven track record of good time management and problem solving skills.

Location

This is a residential role based in Newman, a town of approximately eight thousand people. It has excellent sporting facilities that cater for a wide range of interests and age groups, a well-appointed shopping centre, and education services to senior level. Full relocation and subsidised housing will be offered to the successful candidate.
